The area is mainly rural, with three Indigenous communities at Peppimenarti, Nganmarriyanga and Wadeye which are managed by West Daly Regional Council (Council). Position Summary

The Homeland Maintenance Supervisor will play a critical role in overseeing and executing essential services projects, housing repairs and maintenance. This role will provide support to the Homelands Program Manager. This is a key position responsible for supervising and implementing a range of critical tasks to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of homeland properties and services. The Homelands Maintenance Supervisor directly contributes to the well-being of the homeland’s residents.

The key duties of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Responsibilities include project planning, budgeting and contractor supervision.
  • Ensuring that the Homeland Essential Service assets receive regular maintenance.
  • Assist in developing, implementing & maintaining register for recording homelands assets.
  • Undertake routine asset condition inspections condition and the serviceability.
  • Assist in developing, implementing & maintaining processes for reporting faults and service requests.
  • Ensuring materials and equipment are stored securely.
  • Developing, implementing & maintaining a repairs and maintenance work plan to ensure compliance with the funding program objectives.
  • Carrying out and/or engaging others to carry out emergency repairs.
  • General repairs and maintenance of homelands dwellings and surrounding areas.
  • General maintenance of parks and gardens (i.e. cutting lawns, planting and pruning trees).
  • Regular provision of waste removal services for surrounding outstations.
  • Regular provision of waste removal services, maintenance of essential municipal services.
  • Other council services as and when required (subject to homelands requirements).
  • Facilitate approvals and schedules of works for contractor working in homelands.
  • Operate safe work practices and adhere to Council’s work health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with skill and experience, as directed by the manager.

About You

To be successful in the role, you must have:

  • High level of communication and technical skills.
  • Ability to successfully supervise a small team.
  • Project management experience.
  • General maintenance experience in facilities and/or machinery.
  • General mechanical experience or relevant trade qualification (preferred).
  • Permits to operate the machinery.
  • Aerodrome Reporting Officer certification (preferred)
  • Current Northern Territory Driver’s Licence (HR licence preferred).
  • National Criminal History Check clearance.
  • Current Working with Children/Ochre Card.
