KEY TASKS AND DUTIES
Our Community Connector will participate in the Community Connector Program (CCP). The CCP aims to enhance the capacity of West Winds to address complex individual, family, and community issues by connecting people to appropriate programs, services and resources.
- 1. Linking individuals, families and communities to appropriate programs, services, and resources:
- Provide a first point of contact for individuals and families, offering connection, support and referrals; and
- Create safe environments where people feel comfortable raising issues, seeking help and accessing support; and
- Maintain awareness, knowledge, understanding, and promotion of appropriate support programs, services, resources available to individuals, families and community; and
- Connect people to appropriate programs, services and resources to address issues, including financial difficulties, food insecurity, and mental health and wellbeing; and
- Advocate on behalf of individuals and families, including liaising with service providers, community sector providers, community groups, and key community people.
- 2. Reducing social isolation and improving well-being:
- Plan and coordinate social and community activities, including workshops and events; and
- Connect individuals, families, and communities, to community activities including workshops and events.
- 3. Co-designing and program coordination:
- Identify and respond to community issues, gaps and needs; and
- Develop and coordinate groups and programs in collaboration with the community that respond to, and address community issues and needs.
Selection Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in the social sciences/humanities/ community development
- Demonstrated experience and skills in working within community groups and organisations
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the services, resources and programs available and required to support individuals, families and communities.
- Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- High level computer literacy
- Highly developed program management abilities and skills
- Well-developed organisation and time management skills
- Highly developed report writing skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to deliver programs andmeet deadlines
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Required to provide and maintain a satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People Check
- Current Drivers licence
- Compliance with Child and Youth Safe Organisation Framework ( *CYSOF) policies and practices
