Position Overview

WRT is seeking a Project Manager (2 days a week*) to manage exciting ecological projects ranging from $50,000 to $500,000. The role involves managing projects in accordance with WRT policies and procedures, ensuring safety, timeliness, and budget adherence.

The ideal candidate will ideally have a background in the environmental sector, potentially with ecological expertise. This position will make a significant positive contribution to WRT’s ecological restoration projects and organisation, and there is the potential for the position to grow with your unique skills and experience.

There is potential to increase this role to up to 4 days per week if the right applicant would also like to take on the concurrently advertised position of Business Manager with Wetland Revival Trust.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure all projects are run in line with WRT processes, policies and OHS procedures.
  • Manage major projects, including financial planning and tracking using Xero, invoicing, and payment.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of appropriate works plans within set budgets.
  • Coordinate labour, methods, resources, and equipment for works programs.
  • Organise sub-contractors and manage associated contracts.
  • Report and communicate stakeholders, clients and management regarding the progress of projects.
  • Prepare, edit and proof-read reports and acquittals.
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive record keeping.
  • Data entry
  • Support other staff to submit maps and data to online databases.
  • Enhance internal processes and procedures as required.
  • Promote projects on website and through social media.
  • Assist in writing and developing budgets for tender and grant applications.
  • Participate in flora and fauna monitoring projects.
  • Be ready for fieldwork and overnight camping as needed.

What you will bring:

  • Ability to articulate WRT's vision and values
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Project Manager
  • Expertise in project management, contract management and associated financial management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage project safety, time, cost, quality, and risk elements.
  • A history of effective contract management, resourcing planning and delivery management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Effective communication skills, especially when working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people (Traditional Owners).
  • Report writing experience.
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
  • High level computer skills –Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Ability work well within and across teams
  • An understanding and alignment with Wetland Revival Trust's vision and values.
  • A valid manual driver's license.

Also Highly Regarded:

  • Qualifications in fields such as environmental fields such as ecology, botany, conservation and ecosystem management or a minimum industry experience.
  • Project management accreditation favourable, but not essential
  • Direct working experience with GIS mapping, analysis and communication of ecological attributes.
  • Knowledge of native and exotic flora and fauna identification and biology.
  • Experience in NFP sector
  • Grant and tender writing experience
  • Knowledge of Xero and Xero Projects
