The Foundation engages with all levels of government, the apiculture industry, bee-reliant food industries, universities, research organisations and community.

The Foundation funds vital strategic research and education initiatives that strengthen bees, improve pollination efficiency and increase food security and ecosystem health.

The core objectives of the Foundation are to:

Key programs include Bee Friendly Farming, Powerful Pollinator Planting Guides, World Bee Day, Australian Pollinator Week, the Australian Pollinator Count, Community Tree Grants, the Centre for Bee Education, the Bee Ambassador Network, and the Green Carpenter Bee Conservation Project.

About the role

The Program Manager will manage the day-to-day running of the Wheen Bee Foundation’s broad list of programs. The role will involve managing project timelines and budgets, managing internal and external stakeholders and reporting to Wheen Bee Foundation senior leadership and to funding bodies where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, budgets, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations to ensure programs are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
  • Ensure efficient use of funding to achieve program goals.
  • Manage risk assessment and mitigation strategies throughout the lifecycle of the programs.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on program progress to Wheen Bee Foundation leadership and key funding sources.
  • Act as part of a senior leadership team providing program and management services for the Wheen Bee Foundation CEO.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Proven experience managing small and large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects with significant budgets and diverse objectives.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to facilitate collaboration among diverse teams of staff, volunteers and external stakeholders.
  • Experience engaging with government agencies, industry representatives, researchers, and community organisations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in report writing or similar technical tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and thorough program delivery.
  • Ability to manage individual priorities and work schedule while working remotely.
  • Ability to think strategically, identify opportunities and address challenges proactively and effectively.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Australian agricultural systems, biodiversity or pollinator conservation.
  • Experience working in the not-for-profit or environmental sectors.

Work Conditions

  • Full-time ongoing contract, with flexibility in working hours and location (travel will be required).
  • Reports to Wheen Bee Foundation CEO.
  • Contract starts 31 March 2025.
