Mernda Neighbourhood House Committee Member (Voluntary)

Whittlesea Community Connections

Mernda Neighbourhood House (MNH) is looking for four dedicated and community-minded people to take on the following positions: Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. It’s a BIG ask but we know there are BIG people out there who want to join us!

By becoming an inaugural member of MNH Committee of Governance, you will have an opportunity to help shape the future of our fairly new, but growing Neighbourhood House in the City of Whittlesea.

Mernda NH Advisory Group

MNH has an existing Advisory Group who have supported the growth of MNH over the last six years. You will be welcomed into the group before accepting the more formal Committee of Governance roles.

While the MNH Manager oversees day-to-day operations, the Committee of Governance will focus on governance, long-term sustainability and strategic direction to ensure MNH continues to thrive. Governance training and support will be provided to help the new Committee so they can transition into the role with confidence.

This is a critical time for MNH where the new Committee will lead the way to establishing the culture and foundations of the organisation. A great time to join us and make a difference to your local community.

As a Committee Member, you will:

  • Attend Monthly Meetings
  • Ensure strong governance to support compliance, financial sustainability, policy development and risk management
  • Contribute to developing MNH strategic direction, ensuring financial sustainability and growth of key focus
  • Strengthen stakeholder relationships with government, partners, and community groups

Why Join MNH?

MNH is a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone is valued. As a member of the Governance Committee, you'll have a key role in guiding MNH's future, nurturing relationships, and helping the organisation stay a vital resource for the community. This is a great chance to grow your leadership skills, expand your network, and create a lasting impact.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome individuals who:

  • Have a passion for building a connected and resourceful community
  • Enjoy building stakeholder relationships and advocating for community needs
  • Have experience in governance, strategic planning, financial oversight, or policy development (preferred but not essential)

A position description is attached.
