We Help Ourselves (WHOS®) is one of the leading NGO alcohol and other drugs (AOD) treatment providers in Australia. We offer a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic and support programs and services to benefit clients with problematic substance use and associated issues.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated person to join our Sunshine Coast Queensland services.

The successful applicant will have a thorough understanding of a variety of health and community service practices and agencies. The successful applicant should have the skills to build networks that will support the achievement of the goals for the position and WHOS services and should also have knowledge of a services and supports such as general health, mental health, justice, disability, homelessness, unemployment, family support services that would benefit people with problematic substance use and associated issues.

Position requirements:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in AOD work, social work, psychology, social sciences, or related community service field.
  2. Demonstrated experience working in the NGO sector.
  3. Experience working collaboratively with a range of health, allied health and community service providers.
  4. Knowledge of local and intrastate AOD, mental health and community service networks.
  5. Supportive of and familiarity with Harm Reduction approaches available within the AOD sector.
  6. High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to network, consult and negotiate with a range of stakeholders.
  7. Current drivers’ licence.

The role requires experience in:

  • Presentation and public speaking to provide in service to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a senior management team.
  • Strategic management skills to support the service manager working with key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of community-based resources to support WHOS clients.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of effective service level relationships between WHOS Sunshine Coast and a range of health services such as dental, optical, psychological, liver clinic), as well as employment, job training, housing, family law services and the criminal justice system.
  • Project planning and KPI reporting experience.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality assurance and continuous quality improvement.
  • Working independently and as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • The efficient and effective use of information, communication and data collection tools, including sound computer literacy.
  • Critically reflecting on own professional practice, behaviours and attitudes.

Please note this position is offered on a fixed term contract basis subject to continuation of funding.
