WHV is a statewide, feminist, not-for-profit leading the pursuit of gender equity in health. We work with government, the health sector and the community to create better health outcomes for women (cis and trans inclusive) and gender diverse people.

WHV delivers vital support services to the community and empowering health information. We share evidence and recommendations to challenge bias in the health system. We build capacity in the health sector to achieve equitable health outcomes.

Communications and Marketing Lead

In this new role, you will be instrumental in enhancing WHV’s presence, raising public awareness, and engaging stakeholders through strategic communications and marketing initiatives. You will develop and execute integrated communications plans that promote WHV’s mission, programs, and advocacy efforts across various platforms, including traditional and digital media.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing WHV’s overall communications strategy to enhance visibility, engage stakeholders, and support advocacy and program goals.
  • Overseeing and creating consistent engaging content (websites, newsletters, social media, press releases) to communicate effectively, and ensure brand consistency and integrity.
  • Developing, implementing and reviewing the effectiveness of multimedia content strategies that incorporate storytelling to highlight the organisation’s impact and build emotional connections with audiences.
  • Serving as the main point of contact for media enquiries and build and maintain relationships to secure positive media coverage
  • Collaboratively working with internal stakeholders to ensure WHV’s public engagement is aligned with policy and advocacy goals.
  • Overseeing major events for WHV including planning and promoting events and managing public relations to increase visibility and impact.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-promotional partnerships and collaborate with external stakeholders to amplify campaign messaging.

Amongst other selection criteria, as an ideal candidate, you’ll have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field (preferred), or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of six years' experience in communications and/or marketing in a similar senior role or a related area. Experience in not-for-profit, government or health sectors (preferred).
  • Proven experience in developing and executing integrated communications and marketing strategies, including digital marketing and social media.
  • Demonstrated experience in content creation and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Experience overseeing event management.
