About the role

Building on our recent growth and goal to expand our area of impact, we are looking for a Chief Financial Officer to lead the organisations corporate and financial governance and, as a part of the Executive management team, to work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Board and operational leaders in the implementation of the Strategic plan.

The CFO will work closely with the WIRES Public Gift Fund Committee in the management of donations to ensure all obligations are met.

The CFO will engage with employees, members, Board and Committee members and external stakeholders in the execution of their role and provide direct leadership, direction and management of the finance team and Branch treasurers.

The CFO will work in close collaboration with the CEO, COO and other members of the Leadership team in the delivery of WIRES strategic objectives.

The CFO responsibilities include:

  • The development and maintenance of the finance and risk governance framework across both central and branch activities
  • The management of day to day finance activities across the organisation
  • The maintenance, tracking and reporting of operational metrics (KPI’s)
  • The provision of regular financial reports to key stakeholders including the CEO, Branches, Board and WPGF Committee and regulators
  • Oversight and fulfilment of regulatory compliance requirements
  • The development and implementation of internal audit and risk manage activities
  • Assisting in the setting of financial goals and objectives and the preparation, review and tracking of budgets
  • The management of financial forecasting, cash flow planning, financial modelling and business case development and review
  • Management of cash balances in accordance with the investment policy
  • Advising on long term business and finance planning
  • Providing strategic recommendations to the CEO, Board and senior operational leaders.
  • The review and placement of appropriate Insurance
  • Oversight of the external audit and preparation of annual financial statements
  • Company secretarial duties

Key Competencies

  • Senior level financial management expertise, including taxation, compliance, asset management, insurance and reporting
  • Experience in budgeting, cash flow management, modelling and forecasting and business case development
  • Experience in the management of legal issues, contract management and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Strong organisational, negotiation and project management skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Qualified chartered accountant or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in finance role

This is a 12-month contract with the potential for extension.
