ABOUT THE ROLE

WIRES Projects and Grants Officer's position manages the delivery within budget of WIRES grants programs and other projects. This role assists in securing new grants by crafting compelling and impact-focused proposals. Core functions of the role include securing new grants and managing existing incoming grant projects to successful completion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management of organisational opportunity pipeline and grants calendar.
  • Researching, revising, identifying, and sharing funding opportunities for development.
  • Developing and submitting high quality grant applications and funding proposals, presentations, and project reports, as required.
  • Contributing to the development of standard responses, templates and structures that facilitate efficient management of the funding application process.
  • Facilitating timely grant reporting and acquittals by collating all necessary information ahead of deadlines.
  • Ensuring all grants received are well managed through to successful acquittal.
  • Assist with WIRES programs and major projects, as required

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have strong writing abilities including grammar and spelling, intrinsically enjoy writing and be able to synthesise important information succinctly.

In addition, the following skills and competencies are required:

  • Experience in grant writing (within the Not for Profit and/or Government sector/s is desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality work with strict deadlines with minimal supervision, as well as working on multiple projects across different platforms as part of a small multi-skilled team.
  • Highly organised, reliable, efficient & detail oriented with excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Effective research skills coupled with creativity and initiative.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget writing for large proposals.

ABOUT US

WIRES is Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation, rescuing and caring for sick, injured and orphaned native animals for over 35 years. WIRES mission is to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same.

WIRES operate a dedicated Wildlife Rescue Office assisting wildlife and the community across Australia 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, providing rescue advice and assistance for over 150,000 animals annually, as well as provide full-time mobile Wildlife Emergency Responders operating across Greater Sydney, South-East Queensland and Tasmania.

WIRES has actively been providing significant national support for hundreds of projects to assist with wildlife rescue and rehabilitation across Australia while also working nationally with major partners to support the long-term recovery of wildlife habitat and the long-term preservation of native species in the wild.

This role is a 12 month contract with the potential for extension.

The role is a hybrid position with some time spent working from home, and some based in the office at Brookvale.
