This role will be responsible for providing broad communications support to the Centre, so we are a strong visible source of help for women, trans and gender diverse people in Canberra and a trusted source of advice and expertise for the Canberra community.

The position is responsible for providing broad communications support to the Centre including developing accessible and effective social media content; maintaining core communications tools and materials including our website and collateral and providing media support.
We are looking for someone with relevant qualifications communications or someone who has experience working in a similar role. The Centre values diverse lived experience and understanding of intersectionality and welcomes applications from First Nations women, women of colour, women from migrant and refugee backgrounds, women with disability and women, trans and gender diverse people from the LGBTQIA+ community.
The Women’s Legal Centre is a specialist community legal centre. We provide assistance to women, trans and gender diverse people. Our Practice areas include Family Law, Employment, Discrimination and Sexual Harassment, Migration and the Sexual Violence Legal Service.
The Centre also includes the Mulleun Mura Access to Justice Program, which is a specialist program for First Nations women, led by First Nations women.
The Centre provides legal services within a feminist, trauma-informed, multidisciplinary and integrated service model that incorporates social work, cultural supports and collaborative service models, to provide wrap-around support to the most vulnerable and at-risk clients.
The Centre also prioritises working in partnership and delivering services in collaboration with health and community-based services.
The Centre is committed to building community capacity to understand and respond to gender-based violence and discrimination and being a visible and strong advocate for accountability and structural reform. The Centre provides expert input into law, policy development and reform, and builds capability within government and the wider community to achieve deeper systems and cultural change.
