Wesley Mission has long been a leader in the suicide prevention field, establishing the first Lifeline Centre in 1963. If you have a background in psychology, counselling, or clinical supervision we would like to hear from you. A Lifeline Crisis Support Supervisor maintains and ensures the professional standards of telephone counselling/crisis support at Lifeline Sydney & Sutherland.

About the role

You will oversee and provide clinical and supervisory services to the crisis support team at Sydney and Sutherland. You will provide crisis management, reflective practice, debriefing activities, and group supervision. You will work with a team of professionals to ensure that our telephone counsellors/crisis supporters have the administrative, emotional and psychological support they require in their critical role with our centre.

Essential criteria

  • Hold ongoing full accreditation under a national health, social work or counselling registration board. For example:
    • Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
    • Australian Counselling Association (ACA) Level 2 or higher
    • Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
    • Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (Clinical Member)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or willingness to obtain
  • Demonstrated counselling experience
  • Experience in providing supervision to counsellors, psychologists or social workers

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in working in a busy administration office with non-routine workflows
  • Experience working with or managing volunteers
  • High-level of computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Training experience, developing and delivering training programs; ASIST Trainer or Mental Health First Aid Trainer
