  • Assist clients to reduce AOD related harms & promote recovery

Your new role

As an AOD Counsellor, you will provide trauma informed support to reduce AOD related harms to individuals and their families. You will conduct assessments and provide a range of counselling interventions to assist clients and their family members to change harmful behaviours, increase their capacity to effectively manage the problems they are experiencing associated with AOD use, and promote recovery.

Your skills and experience

You will hold a tertiary qualification in a health or welfare related discipline. You will also bring with you:

  • A Certificate IV in AOD or completion of the AOD Core Competencies (or willingness to complete within first 24 months of employment)
  • Experience in the provision of AOD assessment/counselling services
  • Previous experience working with AOD or dual-diagnosis clients
  • Knowledge of counselling theories and therapeutic approaches to assist clients with AOD related goals
