Western NSW Community Legal Centre (WNSWCLC) is a not-for-profit non-government organisation with a community led volunteer Management Committee. Over 28 years the centre has built up a legal delivery program that sees it helping people experiencing disadvantage, across a large region. It employs 17 staff who work in a collaborative and respectful team environment. It is based in Dubbo NSW but outreaches monthly throughout the Western NSW region. It also provides a specific domestic violence legal and casework service to female victims of family and domestic violence. This service provides legal and non-legal holistic help to its clients.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Executive Officer (EO) of WNSWCLC is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the organisation. The EO oversees the broader administration of the centre, while the Principal Solicitors manage the legal practice. This collaborative approach allows for efficient operations and optimal legal service delivery.

The EO’s responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Planning and Implementation
  • Communications, promoting WNSWCLC and developing relationships
  • Program management and service delivery
  • Compliance and accreditation
  • Managing human resources
  • Financial management
  • Funding, grants and fundraising
  • Resourcing the management committee

The EO will lead a talented, passionate and committed team of lawyers, caseworkers and support staff to deliver culturally appropriate and safe services.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a person with significant experience in finance, people management, and stakeholder engagement.

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Proven leadership experience in a non-profit or related field.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong financial management skills, experience managing multiple income streams, program management and complex reporting and project acquittal expertise, within budget.
  • Strong understanding of social justice issues and a commitment to advancing the rights of vulnerable communities, particularly Aboriginal communities
  • A proven track record of building collaborative relationships with community stakeholders and partners
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to identify, assess, and mitigate organisational risks
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams
