Women’s Legal provides legal services within a multi-disciplinary and trauma-informed practice in the areas of family law, family violence, victims of crime, migration and child protection. Our model incorporates social work and financial counselling to provide wrap-around support to our clients.

Your new role

Reporting to the Director of Education and Engagement, you will provide high quality project management expertise to deliver the Family Law Capacity Building Project. The Project provides best practice training and capacity building activities to community lawyers to develop their family violence and family law legal skills, and to support with the establishment and strengthening of family law legal practices in community legal services.

You will also provide strategic guidance in project management methodologies and develop project management tools and templates to support project management capacity in the Education and Engagement Program, and to embed consistent project management practices across WLSV.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement a project plan for the Family Law Capacity Building Project and other relevant projects
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Education and Engagement Program and colleagues (with expertise in communications, data, monitoring and evaluation) to deliver the Family Law Capacity Building Project
  • Collaborate with partner organisations to deliver the Family Law Capacity Building Project that meets the needs of community lawyers assisting women experiencing family violence and relationship breakdown
  • Work alongside the Director of Education and Engagement to maintain the relationship with the current project funders and to ensure funder requirements are being met
  • Provide project management expertise and strategic guidance to support project management capability across the Education and Engagement Program, and the broader organisation

This is a full time or part time (minimum 4 days) position, fixed term until 30th June 2025.

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Experience working in the legal assistance or community sector
  • Advanced project management skills, and experience managing projects preferably in the legal or community sector
  • Demonstrated experience implementing collaborative initiatives enabled by high level stakeholder engagement skills, and the proven ability to work effectively with a range of people to negotiate differing needs and expectations
  • Experience using qualitative and quantitative data to monitor project delivery, identify risks to successfully deliver project activities, and to demonstrate impact
  • High level oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate and foster constructive relationships with staff, external stakeholders and organisations
  • Experience and/or ability to mentor and support other colleagues in project management methodologies and embedding of project management strategies and tools
  • Experience delivering projects with a focus on working with experiencing family violence and providing trauma-informed legal assistance (desirable)
