Woollahra Council is seeking two dynamic Community Development Officers to proactively identify and respond to community needs and aspirations.
The focus of the role will be to plan and facilitate community programs, projects and activities that enhances community well-being. Key projects will include the Reconciliation projects and implementation of Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan; safety and crime prevention and services and programs to meet the needs of children, young people, seniors and families as well as the coordination of Council’s grants program.
In doing so, you will conduct research and advocacy, consult with the community and various stakeholders and undertake strategic/social planning.
You will be part of the Community Development Team, which applies community development strategies to achieve ongoing community engagement to build and sustain strong local communities. The role will include planning, developing, implementing and evaluating a range of community initiatives for specific program areas within Council’s Social and Cultural Plan, as well as responding to emerging priorities.
Projects and events undertaken by the Community Development Team target, but are not limited to, seniors, people living with disability, families, children, young people, those who are socially isolated and vulnerable people.
The successful applicants will demonstrate highly developed project management and excellent communication skills as the role demands a proficient level of consultation with executive staff, community organisations and government agencies.
This position requires occasional after-hours work.
