WorkSafe ACT is a fully independent office headed by the WHS Commissioner. WorkSafe ACT achieves its objectives through a combination of compliance and enforcement, awareness raising, education, inspection, and investigation.
It is responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance by duty holders in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) and associated legislation for Workers' Compensation and Labour Hire Licensing.
Legislation shapes almost all the work that WorkSafe ACT does. As such an important part of our agency, we have a permanent vacancy for a motivated and highly organised professional to fill the role of Legal Policy Officer within our Investigations team.
The Legal Policy Officer will prepare legal policy advice on legislative matters, develop a variety of guidance content, including providing input for our web content, guidance materials and Code of Practice.
The successful candidate will have well-developed legal and policy analysis skills, experience working in a legal environment, excellent communication skills and knowledge of WHS or workers’ compensation laws and related issues.

Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
