Workways Australia Ltd is a not-for-profit charitable organisation that was established in 1989 for the principal purpose of promoting the relief of poverty, distress or misfortune of individuals who are experiencing long-term unemployment and other social disadvantages. Workways provides programs to assist individuals to obtain and retain employment, or to proceed to further education and training.

With its head office in Bairnsdale, Victoria, Workways is a provider of employment services and complementary programs in Victoria and Queensland, in addition to bush regeneration and habitat restoration services through our Environmental arm, Envite along the East Coast from Gippsland to North Queensland.

About the role

Applicants for Non-Executive Director position are required to possess a range of competencies, as listed in the Non-Executive Director Position Description, with strong skills and experience in the following areas:

• Employment Services
• Disability / NDIS
• Environmental

It is expected that Non-Executive Director will possess personal attributes that enable effective contribution to the duties and obligations of the Board. A strong understanding of corporate governance including legal, ethical, fiduciary and financial responsibilities is essential. Previous government stakeholder experience would be desirable.
 
Workways’ Non-Executive Directors are expected to demonstrate strong diplomatic skills and personal qualities of integrity, credibility and a passion for making a difference in the communities we service.
 
Non-Executive Directors are required to complete a National Police History Check, Financial Check, and Working with Children/Vulnerable People Check. The successful appointee will also be required to evidence their Right to Work in Australia and applicable qualifications held.
