Canberra Community Law is seeking a full time Solicitor with demonstrated interest in Tribunal and courtroom advocacy to join our ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT) Housing Law duty lawyer service.

  • Full Time – 12-month contract position

Canberra Community Law is a leading not for profit community legal centre in the ACT and its region committed to social justice and human rights. We are seeking a Full Time Solicitor to primarily work in our ACT Civil and Administrative Canberra Tribunal (ACAT) Housing Law duty lawyer service.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or junior solicitor to work in CCL’s litigation practice which is at the forefront of human rights litigation in the ACT. We are looking for a Solicitor with demonstrated interest in Tribunal and courtroom advocacy to join a team committed to making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged people.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Providing duty lawyer services at the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT);
  • Carrying a human rights litigation casework load in the Residential Tenancies jurisdiction of ACAT; and
  • Supervising and teaching clinical law students.
