Wunan Foundation is a leading Aboriginal development organisation based in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Its purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices that lead to independent, fulfilling lives.

Wunan delivers the Journey to Empowerment program in the East Kimberley. The purpose of the Journey to Empowerment program is to support participants on their journey to self-reliance and empowerment through offering supported employment opportunities. We are seeking a passionate Support Worker who wants to contribute to improving, supporting and delivering the Journey to Empowerment program.

About the Role:

The Support worker role will include providing drop-offs and pick-ups for participants, supporting with attaining the relevant licenses and pre-start checks for participants, and assisting with other administrative duties as required. The Support Worker role is a part-time position based in our Kununurra office.

Essential Criteria:

  • Current unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence
  • Ability to take initiative and work autonomously as well as work co-operatively as part of a team
  • A demonstrated commitment to the core mission of Wunan
  • National Police Check / NDIS Worker Screening / WWC check
  • Effective written and communication skills to interact effectively with participants, colleagues

Desirable criteria:

  • A strong understanding of Indigenous people in general, and of Indigenous people and communities in the East Kimberley in particular
  • A familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (predominantly Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • First Aid and CPR

Pre-employment requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (not older than 6 months)
  • Current Working with children clearance
  • Current
