The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation is a Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) appointed under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic.). We represent the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Traditional Custodians of Melbourne and the Greater Melbourne region, and we take great pride in our responsibility for protecting and managing Aboriginal cultural heritage objects and places on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. The Corporation offers a range of other cultural services including environmental land management, cross-cultural education, traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremonies, research, and cultural consultations.
The Cultural Values Advisor is responsible for the delivery a range of Traditional Owner cultural values-based projects. Key tasks include the preparation and review of assessments and studies related to cultural values (intangible cultural heritage). The role requires engaging with Wurundjeri Elders to record their knowledge of Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung culture and utilising documentary and other sources to conduct research. Additionally, it is responsible for facilitating project meetings, workshops, and on-Country activities to support our mission of preserving and promoting our cultural heritage.
The Cultural Values Advisor will sit within the Cultural Values Team within the Corporation’s Research Unit, which documents and assesses Wurundjeri cultural values in relation to sites, places and landscapes with guidance from Wurundjeri Elders. These cultural values, or intangible cultural heritage, include stories, customs, beliefs, associations, practices, knowledge, skills and language that together form part of a living, dynamic Wurundjeri cultural heritage.
