About us

The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation is a Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) appointed under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic.).

We represent the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Traditional Owners of Melbourne and the Greater Melbourne region, and we take great pride in our responsibility for protecting and managing Aboriginal cultural heritage objects and places on Wurundjeri Country.

The Corporation offers a range of cultural services including environmental land management, cross-cultural education, traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremonies, research, and cultural consultations.

Purpose

The Narrap Unit is the dedicated Caring for Country unit of WWCHAC. The unit incorporates two distinct but connected programs – the Ranger Program and the Water Program – and centres itself on asserting and maintaining Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung cultural rights and responsibilities of protecting and caring for Country. that lead to ongoing and increasing opportunities for the Corporation.

The purpose of this position is to provide efficient and effective administrative support to the Narrap Unit by contributing to the day-to-day administrative operations of the Narrap Rangers. The Administration Officer plays a key role in scheduling of crew, supporting project management, reporting, operational logistics and finance processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Collation of the weekly worker’s log and staff scheduling.
  • Support for staff and NRM works scheduling on the Field Assist App.
  • Managing the Narrap inbox and responding to queries.
  • Support for Project Management administrative tasks.
  • Support the coordination of Narrap Unit events and activities.
  • Assist in preparation and distribution of Narrap Unit reports.
  • Monitoring and restocking Narrap office supplies.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all Business Units, the Wurundjeri Community, Elders, and external clients.
  • Contribute to the flexibility, agility and adaptability of your team and the wider organisation, by undertaking duties from time to time that may be in addition to those outlined above but which fall within your capabilities and experience.
  • Act as a role model for the Wurundjeri Corporation in all that you do.

About you

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Team Administrator or Executive Assistant.
  • Experience working with logistics of a large team and strong organisational skills and processes.
  • Computer proficiency, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • High attention to detail and logistical skills
  • Sound knowledge of land management and environmental work is highly desirable
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills including experience in taking accurate minutes.
  • Ability to plan work and set priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong advocacy for the advancement and self-determination of Aboriginal communities and businesses.
  • A flexible communication ability to foster strong, trusting working relationships with Wurundjeri Elder, members and staff.
