Working as a member of the Policy and Horizon Scanning team, the Forestry Transition role seeks to help shift Australia from a global deforestation nation, to a Reforestation Nation, and hasten the national completion of the forestry-to-plantations transition. New South Wales transition opportunities will be a dominant focus, with an expectation to respond to other strategic opportunities around forestry and forest management in other states (e.g., Queensland, Victoria) and federally. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Towards Two Billion Trees, the role offers opportunities to grow your career within a supportive team environment.
The position plays a key role in supporting the achievement of WWF's Towards Two Billion Trees program goal to save and grow 2 billion trees in Australia by 2030. This position supports the Senior Manager, Towards Two Billion Trees, to develop and implement the program as part of a multifunctional team incorporating the Conservation, Marketing & Engagement and Revenue Development departments. The role contributes to WWF-Australia's Regenerate Australia vision, supports land justice through handback of public native forests to Indigenous traditional owners, and supports Australia's goal to halt and reverse forest loss and degradation by 2030 under the Glasgow Leaders' Declaration on Forests and Land Use.
The ideal candidate will have an ability to work both autonomously and constructively within a team and be aligned with WWF's vision, mission and I-CCaRe Values - Integrity, Courage, Collaboration and Respect.
