Currently, young people make over 17% of the total Wyndham population, with this comes a distinct need for youth related services. Every day we strive to keep young people engaged, inspired and feeling part of the community through a range of programs, events and support.

Our growing service if made up of 42 employees and work across four locations across Wyndham and our state-of-the-art mobile youth facility. We run more than 340 programs and events annually and engage a total of 15,000 young people and their families into our service annually.

A bit about the role

Would you like to make a direct impact on young people’s lives? If you answered yes, this is the role for you! We are seeking an enthusiastic, engaging and organised person that has the desire to help shape the lives of young people in our community. You will work on a range of youth-led projects and activities which support young people and their families in Wyndham.

You will foster innovative initiatives that build capacity, promote leadership and resilience in young people and create opportunities to participate, connect and enable genuine opportunities to influence decision making processes. You will build positive relationships with young people, colleagues and other stakeholders to establish a positive presence with all stakeholders in order to engage and identify our young people’s needs in our community and to ensure the successful delivery of key projects.

What you’ll deliver

  • Plan, develop, deliver and evaluate a wide range of projects, programs, services and opportunities for young people aged 12 to 25 that are consistent with the strategic policy and service planning
  • Work with young people through meaningful youth participation, project planning and engaged decision making around areas that affect them to create positive social change
  • Contribute to day to day operational activities of the Youth Services team
  • Strengthen local area work to meet the existing and emerging needs of young people and their families within the community

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Community Development, Social Work or a related discipline and relevant experience in the generalist Youth Sector or lesser formal qualification and substantial relevant experience in the Youth Sector
  • Demonstrated experience working within adolescent development, group work, youth participation and community development frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and managing competing priorities, whilst maintaining a deadline and within budget parameters
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, evaluation and reporting of programs and services
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the contemporary context and experiences of young people, the development, challenges and transitions inherent in their life course
  • Proven ability to successfully engage and communicate with a diverse range of young people of varying abilities and needs, their families and communities
