About us

XTend Yourself is a provider of mental health and community services in Canberra and surrounding Regions. Our purpose is to create a safe place for individuals, valuing their thinking and ideas. We support individuals to form social connections to enhance their mental, emotional, and social well-being.

We support a diverse range of individuals, with lived experiences that are potentially traumatic in nature. We do this as a trauma-informed practice, and we will assist Support Workers to identify their own individual care plans to safeguard them from the impacts of this trauma, while minimising harm to themselves, for the individual, their carers, families and other supports.

We want individuals who understand the appropriate standards, are open to feedback and will work in an ethical manner when working with vulnerable people.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Provide support to individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities, psychosocial disabilities, and other impairments.
  • Provide supports that are appropriate, for individuals who demonstrate neurodiversity, (i.e., Protect from abuse, neglect, and violence).
  • Assisting with activities of daily living, community and social support, capacity building, and empowerment (i.e., self-advocacy).
  • Administrative tasks that are inclusive of, but not limited to: Effective Case Notes, Report Writing, Supervision, Debrief, Incident Reporting, and other documentation.
  • Will participate as a team member of XTend Yourself in regular meetings and via online correspondence, including surveys.

Qualifications & experience

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health, Disability, and/or Community Services.
  • Alternatively Mental Health, Social, and Community Sector experience and/or Other transferable experiences and qualifications.
