Yalari is seeking an experienced Engagement and Philanthropy Manager to join our Philanthropy team helping support our organisation to deliver generational change for Indigenous Australians through education.

For nearly two decades, Yalari has been changing the lives of Indigenous children from remote and regional communities, by providing scholarships to Australia’s leading boarding schools. In 2024, we proudly support 248 students on their boarding school journey at 19 partner schools, with over 500 accomplished alumni who are making their mark across the nation.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, you will contribute your experience and skills to deliver on the organisation’s engagement and philanthropy goals. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development and implementation of donor base growth strategy across all segments working closely with marketing to implement growth initiatives.
  • Lead the engagement and stewardship plans for current and potential high value donors to increase their contribution coordinating regular updates, reports and engagement opportunities.
  • Take the lead in securing gifts from Trusts and Foundations by researching, cultivating relationships, writing applications, receiving funds, and preparing evaluation reports.
  • Develop and manage the annual tax appeal in conjunction with marketing with a view to growing both our donor base and donations year on year.
  • Contribute to the development of the Philanthropy strategy across Partnerships, Foundation, Donations and Grants, and Fundraising (revenue streams).
  • Undertake research as required to identify opportunities for the Philanthropy team across all revenue streams.
  • Support fundraising events as a key member of the Philanthropy team.

The ideal applicant will:

  • Have experience working in a philanthropy or fundraising team in particular demonstrated evidence of securing and stewarding major donors.
  • Be a strategic thinker with highly developed planning and organisational skills that can prioritise opportunities.
  • Have a proven track record in grant writing for success.
  • Be able to establish and build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Possess exceptional written and oral communication skills with a flair for presentations.
  • Possess strong numerical and analytical skills including an ability to interpret data analytics from the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database.
  • Be goal orientated and thrive in an environment where the pathway to success is forged not defined.
  • Be a positive team player with an ability to work autonomously and as part of a broader cross-functional team.
