YANA (formerly Women’s Liberation Halfway House) is Australia’s longest-running independent feminist crisis accommodation service. Established in 1974 by activists of the women’s movement, YANA was the first refuge for women in Victoria.

For 50 years, we have been at the forefront of providing safe accommodation, advocacy, and support for victim-survivors of family violence, with a particular focus on those from communities with the least resources.

THE ROLE:

Leading a passionate, collaborative team. The refuge operations manager has the primary responsibility for the management of staff and client services for the refuge site. The refuge operations manager will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the refuge as well as providing reflective practice, debriefing and supervision to the practice lead team.

The refuge operations manager plays a pivotal role in the success of the family violence emergency response. They are expected to meet a range of outcomes and deliverables which align with YANA’s Strategic Plan.

The refuge operations manager is responsible for coordinating the delivery of an extended hours service. This role entails the oversight and monitoring of high-quality intake and family violence risk assessments, safety plans, needs assessments, case and exit planning. The role also incorporates overall management of the refuge units to ensure they are maintained and ready for occupancy.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Coordinate intake and referral functions and the management of emergency and crisis response services.
  • Provide supervision and management coordination to the refuge site and team.
  • Ensure vacated units are ready for occupancy within 1-2 business days.
  • Participation in the back up on-call roster.
  • Ensure high quality and comprehensive risk assessments, safety plans, needs assessments and case plans are undertaken for women and children accessing emergency accommodation.
  • Co-ordination of exit planning and handovers to external services and partnerships.
  • Providing of daily complex staff case management support.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leadership and participate in senior leadership meetings.
  • Leading and working collaboratively to implement operational processes that support high quality service delivery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will need to have the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications such as Social Work, Social and Community Services or Psychology.
  • Family Violence or similar sector experience.
  • 3+ years leadership experience
  • A current police check, covid vaccinated and working with children's check

This role is full-time ongoing with the expectation of participation in the on-call roster for after hours.
