About the role 

As a Room Leader, you’ll play a vital role in guiding and inspiring educators, volunteers, and students within a designated room. You'll provide supervision, direction, and pedagogical leadership while ensuring a supportive and safe environment for children. Your leadership will contribute to creating a high-quality care program in collaboration with the Educational Leader and your team. You’ll also support and backfill the Childcare Centre Coordinator as needed.

What you will do in this role:

  • Lead the implementation of programs and processes that foster an inclusive, child-focused environment.
  • Build strong, cross-functional relationships within your team and across departments to achieve goals.
  • Maintain and promote a culture of customer service excellence, responding effectively to the needs of children and their families.
  • Act as a role model for high standards of safety and hygiene in line with Council and State guidelines.
  • Be prepared to carry out activities related to Business Continuity and Emergency Management, including implementing bushfire plans and maintaining crisis response protocols.
  • Ensure legal compliance and uphold child safety standards, including mandatory reporting obligations.

Experience and skills we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in early childhood education, with a focus on leadership and program development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to guide and inspire educators, build team cohesion, and foster collaborative relationships.
  • The ability to quickly learn, adapt, and effectively apply new information in customer and child-focused services.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, including responding promptly to issues and anticipating needs within the team.
  • Dedication to creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for children of all backgrounds and abilities.
  • Knowledge of emergency management procedures, and a commitment to promoting workplace safety and wellbeing.

  • Full-time permanent position (76 hours per Fortnight).
  • Salary from $76,054 (Band 5) per annum/hour, plus 11.5% superannuation.
