Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Aboriginal Family Worker to join our team in Umina Beach, New South Wales. The successful candidate will work with Children and families who reside on the Southern end of the Central Coast to strengthen social and emotional wellbeing through strengths based, culturally safe, trauma informed, and healing informed approaches.
The Maliga program aims to promote community participation and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families in school and community life.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and history
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with families, schools, and community organisations
- Empathy and compassion towards vulnerable populations
Responsibilities:
- Provide culturally safe support services to children and families in need
- Develop individualised case plans based on strengths-based approaches
- Collaborate with schools, healthcare providers, and social service agencies to ensure holistic support for clients
- Advocate for the needs of Aboriginal children within the community on darkinjung country
- Facilitate programs to enhance safety and wellbeing in families
Qualifications:
- Cert 4 Community Services or minimum 2 Years industry experience
- Previous experience working with Aboriginal communities essential
- Knowledge of child development principles
- Valid driver's license
- Valid and current Working with Children's Check
