We have a rare opportunity for a Children’s Counsellor to join a team of specialists working with children impacted by domestic and family violence and trauma.
You will work with children, their mothers, and the whole family unit to rebuild attachment. You will need a deep passion for working with children to build their self-esteem, understand their feelings and learn new ways to express them, as well as an understanding of the impacts of domestic & family violence that children experience.

This role is part of YFS’ SHINE Team (servicing Beaudesert and surrounding areas). We are an energetic, dedicated, and supportive team working to increase the safety of women and children.
In this job, you’ll work with children experiencing and/ or witnessing domestic and family violence to develop strategies to improve their safety and minimise the negative impacts of their experiences.
You will provide advocacy, attachment-based counselling, trauma informed interventions, initial and ongoing assessment of the child’s development and liaise with schools / other services involved with the family.
Through your work you will improve parental and sibling relationships and attachment which includes joint work with mothers.
