Yinjaa-Barni Art is a collective of Aboriginal artists who predominantly belong to the Yindjibarndi language group and whose ancestral homelands surround the Fortescue River and Millstream Tablelands.
Based in Roebourne, a small town in Western Australia’s Pilbara region of the north-west of the state, the Yinjaa-Barni artists create deeply personal works of collective memory, rendering the wildflowers, river systems and landforms of their country onto canvas.
Yinjaa-Barni Art is a not-for-profit Aboriginal Corporation governed by an Aboriginal board of directors and run by an executive manager. Yinjaa-barni is Yindjibarndi for ‘staying together’.
Your role will be to help us ensure the continued production of high-quality artworks and the upkeep of art spaces, materials and equipment. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the art studio as well as providing a welcoming environment for tourists and visitors to the art centre.
You'll build relationships with our artists and contribute to creative programming and support cultural activities, such as the logistical operations of on-Country bush trips. You'll help with overseeing artwork documentation, as well as contributing to exhibitions, events, eCommerce and digital marketing efforts.
Additionally, the role focusses on building relationships with the Roebourne community and partners, supporting strategic planning and contributing to governance tasks such as reporting and acquittals.
You will be a motivated individual that has initiative, organisational skills and an ability to build strong relationships. Previous experience working with Aboriginal people and a background in the Arts is desirable, but not essential.
