We have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Worker (or similar!) who is passionate and can help implement our Alternative Suspension program in Broken Hill.
Alternative Suspension is a program addressing educational disengagement and the underlying causes, establishing ongoing support pathways for young people and families, and planning successful returns to school for students currently on, or at risk of, school suspension.
The position is based in Broken Hill and work with the Youth Program Coordinator to implement Alternative Suspension and will also work on other youth programs and projects as required.
You will be comfortable working autonomously, be a creative problem-solver and work under minimal supervision at times.
You will also work and connect remotely with an amazing team of other youth workers, engaging regularly in continuous quality improvement and working together to ensure our programs have positive outcomes for young people.
Our Youth and Community Service workers empower and inspire our young visitors, providing them with a safe space to grow, learn and have their voice heard. From our Program Coordinators and Youth Workers, to all our wonderful Volunteers – our team work tirelessly to create meaningful opportunities for underprivileged and disadvantaged youth.
As part of The Y family, you’ll be responsible for the care and safety of our young community and impact their physical, mental and social wellbeing for the better. In return, we’ll support you to build valuable people, leadership and life skills all while working with people in need, from the comfort of our dynamic recreation facilities.
If you’re ready to engage and inspire the next generation of young people, join us for a rewarding and exciting career that’s all about creating life-changing memories for those who need it most.
The Y NSW is a profit-for-purpose organisation focused on healthy living, social impact and empowering young people. We operate 24 recreation centres, 53 out-of-school-hours care services, and two camping locations which employ 1,500 staff across NSW – and fund our diverse range of enriching community programs.
We believe in building a diverse, inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We encourage people of all genders, ages, religions, disability, sexual orientation, family and caring responsibilities and cultures, including people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage, to apply.
At the Y, we are committed to empowering all Children and Young People to feel safe and be safe, at the Y, in their families and in their communities. As such, we embed Safeguarding into everything that we do to make sure Children and Young People are kept at the front of our minds in all our programs and services.
We also ensure that all our candidates are appropriately screened to make sure that the right people are in the right roles to keep our children and young people safe.
