The YMCA operates a number of services including Child Care, health and fitness, education and training, outdoor education and camping, accommodation and hospitality along with benevolent activities including the YMCA Vocational School and the Schools' Breakfast program.

ABOUT THE WORK SPACE:

The primary purpose of each of the YMCA Community Centre is to support communities to find and build a greater level of connection in their local community.

This is achieved by the provision of high-quality programs into the community, partnerships and service delivery targeting families with young children, youth and the general community.

This includes providing:

  • A variety of programs and events that welcome and actively engage young people and communities in arts, cultural and recreational activities.
  • Support, advocacy and referral services.
  • Facilitate and develop youth and whole of community development pathways.
  • Direct support services, training and/or activities to young people and community members at risk.
  • Hire of meeting rooms, performance spaces and sporting facilities to the community.

The YMCA Community Centres operating across the Ipswich region are a place for the community to meet, celebrate, learn, and connect. There are a number of varied activities and events offered at each of the centres on an ongoing basis.

THE ROLE:

The role of Regional Community Centre Coordinator is critical to the operation of the YMCA. The role will be based across the Villa Community Centres, YMCA Springfield Lakes Community Centre and YMCA Springfield Central Community Centre and Sports Hall. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Key responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Strategic vision and leadership - Lead the team according to the vision and support the team in the day-to day operations of the centres.
  • Develop strong relationships with the broader community, including Community Members and groups, support services, not-for-profits, government agencies and representatives from all levels of government.
  • The achievement of financial goals and planned growth. Strong utilisation of the Community Centres and Sports Hall to generate income to meet operational needs. Identification of and application for funding to deliver needs-based community programs.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

To be successful in the role, you will be able to meet the following criteria:

  • Diploma qualified or minimum 3 years completed of a relevant degree and working towards completion or completed Bachelor of Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of community centre environments and knowledge of relevant government legislation.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated staff management, training and development skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage customer relationships.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage, conflict, complaints and any difficult situations, which may arise.
  • Willingness and available to work flexible hours as determined by business requirements.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills including proven ability to write reports, and communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial processes and budgets.
  • Current Open Queensland Drivers Licence.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificates or willingness to obtain.
  • Possess or willingness to obtain a Blue Card and a National Criminal History check prior to commencement of employment.
