At Purruna Spencer Newton Centre we are looking for swimming teachers who share our passion for teaching swimming and water safety at the earliest ages and want to join our friendly and supportive team.

We are looking for swimming teachers to teach in both our swimming Lessons program and our Schools Swimming Lessons programs as the year heads toward warmer weather and busy programs.

THE ROLE

As Infant Swim Teacher, reporting to the Swim School Manager, you will:

  • Commit to YMCA philosophy in relation to aquatic programs; educational and teaching standards.
  • Deliver safe, effective and professional swimming lessons.
  • Display interest, enthusiasm, patience, respect and innovation to students and peers.
  • Implement lesson plans that promote group teaching methods, combining stroke development with water safety.
  • Structure and design lessons with appropriate activities that enhance student interaction and collaboration.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere by engaging all people in a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Work as part of a team and shows professionalism and respect.
  • Be punctual in both attendance on shift and attendance at staff meetings.
  • Set and example for parents by interacting, communicating, guiding, and setting clear boundaries and expectations for children in healthy and respectful ways.
  • Ensure a clean, neat presentation in correctly presented uniform.
  • Display a commitment to continued learning and professional development.
  • Display understanding and respect to those of different talents, abilities and faith.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Successful candidates will also have, or be willing to obtain:

  • AUSTSWIM or Swim Australia Teacher accreditation
  • AUSTSWIM or Swim Australia Teacher of Infants and Toddlers accreditation
  • HLTAID009 Provide CPR
  • Certificate of completion for “Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care” (RRHAN-EC) Training
  • Weekend Availability
