About the opportunity

Reporting to the Safeguarding Manager, this role is responsible for promoting and embedding child safety across YMCA Victoria. A key member of the Risk, Safety, Environment and Quality Team (RSEQ), the Safeguarding Officer will work closely with operational business leads, site and program managers. You will:

  • Contribute to achieving the Y Victoria’s 2025 Strategy and its priorities and ensure it is embedded throughout our culture;
  • Champion safe environments at the Y and in communities which empower children and young people to thrive;
  • Embed the Safeguarding Framework by providing products, resources, guidance and training;
  • Support the implementation of risk mitigation programs and initiatives, along with delivery of Safeguarding requirements within the tender process.

This is a permanent full time role with a base salary of $88k – $97k + super. This role has flexible working arrangements, both from home and the Box Hill State Office.

About you

You'll have a passion for maintaining and improving high standards of child safety and a practical sense for how this can be operationalised in a large and diverse organisation. In addition you will have:

  • Extensive working knowledge of the Victorian Child Safe Standards
  • Tertiary level qualifications and/or specialist technical experience in training and service development in areas relevant to working within the context of maintaining Child Safety Standards
  • Direct experience in Safeguarding role within relevant industry
  • Ability to provide leadership, support and guidance in often complex, environments with multiple stakeholders
