The Yoorrook Justice Commission is the first formal truth-telling process into injustices experienced by First Peoples in Victoria. Yoorrook has been established as an independent Royal Commission under the Inquiries Act 2014. See here the Letters Patent that set out Yoorrook’s mandate.

This position is responsible for driving engagement with Yoorrook’s inquiry through day-to-day content creation and the publishing of impactful content across all Yoorrook digital channels. This covers everything from designing and developing social media content to live tweeting public hearings to building and nurturing Yoorrook’s online community.

You will have experience creating content and growing audiences. You will have a passion for using your creative skills to make a lasting impact.

This is a fixed-term role until 31 December 2024 with the possibility of extension. The Yoorrook Justice Commission will run until June 2025.

ABOUT YOU

  • You will be someone who can harness social media to increase engagement from First Peoples while educating the wider Victorian public about the importance of truth telling.
  • You will have experience in creating and/or editing existing information into compelling content that appeals to a broad audience and drives engagement through social media.
  • You will ensure content is culturally informed, upholds the highest editorial standards and adheres to Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles including through managing the content consent process.
