Based at Deception Bay and working as part of the Integrated Mental Health Service within the Family Support Services SE QLD team, this role has responsibility for raising the profile of yourtown child and family services and improving the mental health and wellbeing outcomes of residents within the Moreton region through community engagement and networking activities.

Your role will include:

  • Develop and implement community development activities to engage children, young people and families
  • Identify needs, issues and aspirations of the community and develop a community engagement strategy
  • Increase yourtown’s profile within the community through creating and maintaining local networks and connections, coordinating and attending events, forums, meetings and other activities
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with external stakeholders, such as referral pathways, sharing of knowledge and resources, co-location of services
  • Provide administrative support to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of therapeutic group workshops
  • Through the delivery of mental health education workshops, build capacity of community residents to address identified mental health and wellbeing needs

This position will be appointed on a permanent 0.8 FTE basis.

what we are looking for

You will have knowledge and experience in working in mental health and with children and young people and will be able to think creatively to undertake engagement activities and attract target cohorts.

You will bring:

  • passion, commitment and belief in young people
  • diploma level qualification in Social Services, Community Development or similar with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • experience in targeted engagement activities within the areas of child and family/or mental health
  • demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and local community networks
  • experience in developing and delivering workshops and information sessions
