Yulu-Burri-Ba Aboriginal Corporation for Community Health (Yulu-Burri-Ba) provides safe, friendly, confidential, and culturally appropriate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary and Social Wellbeing Health programs in line with community needs.

Yulu-Burri-Ba’s vision is to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and community to achieve excellence in their healthcare outcomes. Yulu-Burri-Ba has clinics at Capalaba, Dunwich (North Stradbroke Island) and Wynnum.

This is an exciting time to join the team as the building work for our dedicated Social Health space at Yulu-Burri-Ba’s Capalaba clinic is underway. This will mean shared workspaces and dedicated therapeutic spaces for individual and family work.

About the Role

Mental Health Clinicians provide culturally appropriate clinical care and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across their lifespan, drawing on an ecological practice framework that prioritises family-centred care.

Join a well-established, stable team where collaboration and long-term growth is valued. Members of the Social Health team are comprised of Care Coordinators (Youth), Case Managers, Counsellors and Psychologists and have:

  • The opportunity to practice a range of assessment and therapeutic approaches within an overarching strengths-based, trauma-informed model of care (including CBT/ACT/Schema, Narrative, EMDR).
  • Access to professional development support that enables growth in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural knowledge and appropriate (Propa) practice.

The team is embedded within a Primary Health Care Clinic that provides a comprehensive range of primary and specialist care services. This role works actively with these other disciplines to ensure that the needs of clients are met in a truly holistic way.

About you

Essentials:

  • Ability to support community members with complex presentations associated with trauma such as AOD, domestic and family violence and mental wellbeing experiences.
  • Ability to travel across Yulu-Burri-Ba clinics (Capalaba, Wynnum and North Stradbroke Island)

*Please note: To be considered for and appointed to any position at Yulu-Burri-Ba, you must have:

  • Current AHPRA registration with Psychology Board Australia or AASW Accredited Mental Health Social Worker or hold Occupational Therapy Australia Mental Health Endorsement.
  • Current “C” Class Driver’s Licence Valid in Queensland.
  • Proof of immunisation record (Immunisation History Statement) – or willingness to obtain as a matter of priority.
