In this varied and challenging role in our Youth Support Services team, you'll be part of a wrap-around service that supports young people who are not supported by protective factors (families, friends, communities, school, and cultural connections) to enable them to lead safe, healthy, and active lives.

A place to make a difference:

In this full-time*, permanent role based in Mount Isa, you’ll be a part of our Family and Youth Services team, reporting to the Team Leader and helping us create lasting change for children and young people everywhere.

You will make a difference by:

  • Providing support to young people who are not supported by protective factors (families, friends, communities, school, and cultural connections) to enable them to lead safe, healthy, and active lives
  • Supporting young people who are at risk of entering the Youth Justice System
  • Providing a culturally responsive service by embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into the design, delivery and evaluation of your programs and services

Bringing your best every day, means:

  • Demonstrated skills and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, young people disengaged with the school system, young people in contact with the justice system and those who have experienced trauma
  • Demonstrated experience in youth work / case management roles (or relevant placements, if you're a recent grad)
  • An understanding of complex intergenerational trauma
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • An understanding of child protection concerns and commitment to responding safely and effectively
