Who we are?

We are a Traditional Owner organisation that represent the Bunurong people of the South-Eastern Kulin Nation. We aim to preserve and protect the sacred lands and waterways of our ancestors, their places, traditional cultural practices, and stories.

Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) is a not-for-profit Aboriginal Corporation that represents the Bunurong Traditional Owners and community. BLCAC was formed in the late 1990s by a small group of Bunurong Elders and warriors to provide representation on Bunurong Country, particularly around cultural heritage management and protection. The corporation was registered with the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC) in 2000 and since then, membership has grown to over 250 members.

Our Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, coordination and management of the activities of BLCAC, in accordance with our vision and mission, values and principles, objectives and policies.

We are seeking a collaborative and passionate individual with strong leadership skills and proven experience managing teams and stakeholders through dynamic periods.

Our CEO will drive strategic change and growth in our operations, develop relationships across sectors, listens to our community with understanding and compassion and build our staff to lead and grow with the organisation.

You must have prior experience working with Traditional Owners groups, have senior leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and strong governance and stakeholder skills to ensure the continued success of BLCAC.

Essential characteristics of the successful candidate include an honest and ethical person who is empathetic and hard working, possesses good communication skills (both written and oral) and able to mentor others within BLCAC as a leader.

The CEO is accountable to the Board and will work closely and collaboratively with the Directors to maintain and further develop the goals and vision of BLCAC. They will be responsible for implementing the Boards policies, decisions, and directions. They will provide an advisory service to the Board as well as leadership, direction and supervision to Department Managers and key management personnel.

Benefits on offer

This Full-time position is offered on a 3-year fixed term basis. Position is also subjected to a successful, 6-month probation period.

Salary range offered for this position is $170,997 - $232,558 (plus super, dependent on experience), additional benefits include phone allowance and motor vehicle allowance.
