A little about the role

This position will provide an adult Speech Pathology service at DPV Health, delivering community and centre based assessments and interventions for clients living in the community. This will include delivering high quality assessment, management and intervention of adult clients with communication and swallowing difficulties resulting from various conditions, including but not limited to, congenital or acquired disability, stroke, dementia and Parkinson’s disease.

You will be working alongside allied health and medical staff to deliver best practice care to people within the DPV catchment areas of Hume and Whittlesea. Travel across sites will be required.  

Join our dynamic, multi-disciplinary team to provide assessment, education and self-management support services to our diverse community. 

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing evidence based, client cantered, goal directed assessment and care planning to a diverse caseload of clients
  • Contributing to the multi-disciplinary team, which may include team-based care plans, case reviews and initiating referrals as appropriate
  • Meeting organisational and funding requirements and KPIs
  • Communicating effectively with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders

About you

You will have experience working within a community setting. You will also have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
  • Current membership and Certified Practising Speech Pathology status with Speech Pathology Australia
  • Well-developed clinical skills and demonstrated ability to support a coordinated approach by working with a range of stakeholders to improve health outcomes as agreed with client
  • Experience working with NDIS clients, including assessment and implementation of aided and unaided Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) with those who present with complex communication needs
  • Experience working with clients who have complex swallowing needs, including assessment of dysphagia with adult clients and implementation of mealtime based intervention and supports
  • Experience working with CALD, Aged and clients with a disability will be highly regarded.

The fine print

  • Full time or part-time permanent position
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check, hold a valid WWCC and NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Full driver's licence and travel between sites required
  • You must be fully vaccinated (COVID-19) and adhere to the Public Health Order regarding vaccination in healthcare facilities to be considered for this position
