GPRA is looking for a Communications and Marketing Assistant to jump into a role that will provide variety, flexibility and independence over a diverse range of communications activities and marketing initiatives.

Position details

  • 0.6 FTE (3 days per week)
  • Flexible working arrangements (office based in Melbourne CBD + work from home)
  • Must commence mid-August
  • 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity leave replacement)
  • Salary packaging available

Your skills and responsibilities

Communications

  • Development of well-written content and coordination of eNewsletters and other ad-hoc EDMs.
  • Contribute to content development in communications projects such as the production of annual magazines, member resources, books, etc.

Web and social media

  • Development of digital content for our websites.
  • Development of content for our social media channels.

Marketing

  • Coordination of advertising in GPRA publications, including electronic and print media.
  • Assist with marketing of GPRA events, products, and services.

About you

This position will ideally suit a person with qualifications and/or entry-level experience in communications, who is keen to develop their skills working in a not-for-profit values-based organisation:

  • Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or other relevant disciplines, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Organised and self-motivated.
  • Previous experience or interest in working in the health or not-for-profit sectors.

About the team

GPRA’s communications platforms are a key mechanism for engagement with members and advocating to stakeholders, and as such is an important enabler of many of the organisation’s core activities. Given the importance of these functions and the breadth of activities supported, a small team within the GPRA staff structure collaboratively manage these responsibilities.

General Practice Registrars Australia Limited (GPRA) is a not-for-profit national organisation concerned with promoting general practice as a medical specialty of choice and representing the interests of the emerging general practice workforce through education, policy development and pastoral care. GPRA has a diverse and evolving membership base, which includes early career GPs, GP trainees, pre-vocational doctors, and medical students.

GPRA is a small but dynamic organisation that supports a large membership base and needs to work in a politically sensitive environment. As such the organisation is known for its innovation, publications, peer-to-peer activities, and national representation.
