The Foundation

The Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation (GMRF) is a world-class research facility located at the Greenslopes Private Hospital in Brisbane, Queensland. GMRF supports and facilitates innovative research in human health and wellbeing.

Veteran Mental Health Unit

For the past seven years and in partnership with RSL Queensland, GMRF researchers have established a nationally and internationally recognised research program investigating the physical and mental health challenges faced by the veteran community. Funding for a further five years is assured.

Our goal now is to build upon the current body of veteran health research through the expansion of key research initiatives and to progress translational projects to further enhance the health and well being of veterans, their families and the wider community.

The Opportunity

The Foundation is currently seeking a highly organised and flexible person to support the Veteran Mental Health Research Initiatives.

Position Summary

  • Assist the research team in the day-to-day operations of the Veteran Mental Health Research Initiatives
  • Perform literature searches, reviews and manage reference database(s)
  • Assist with completion of human ethics applications and progress reports
  • Assist with participant recruitment and consent procedures
  • Assist with report and manuscript writing and editing
  • Database management, data entry, cleaning data files and basic analysis
  • Administrative tasks, including, but not limited to: scheduling of participant visits, responding to participant enquiries via phone and/or email, liaison with health practitioners and project stakeholders, and management of investigator site files, formatting and editing documents, photocopying, setting stakeholder meetings, taking minutes etc. 

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • An honours degree in health science/allied health
  • Understanding of and/or experience in academic research
  • Effective time management and the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills including a professional telephone manner and effective liaison skills
  • High level of computer competency, including experience with Microsoft Suite programs, SPSS and academic referencing software (e.g. Endnote)
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in completing tasks and following procedures

Desirable:

  • Experience with data management and statistical analysis
  • Experience working within a health setting
  • Experience contributing to manuscripts and journal articles
  • Experience in Pharmacy/Pharmacology

Remuneration

This is a one year fixed term role with the possibility of extension. A base salary is $55K per annum and 10% superannuation will be offered with salary sacrificing options available.
