This position is responsible for the coordination of the Restore Pedder campaign run by the Lake Pedder Restoration Inc. to support the full restoration of the original Lake Pedder and surrounding environs.

Lake Pedder was flooded in 1972 and fifty years later, we have a watershed moment in 2021/22 to address this ecological disaster and restore Lake Pedder with the launch of the UN Decade on Ecological Restoration as well as the upcoming federal and state elections.

We need your help to do this.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead the Public Campaign to lift the profile of the restoration of Lake Pedder including direct actions and events.
  2. Manage fundraising, political strategy and partnerships to secure the resources and support to get agreement to the restoration.
  3. Oversee the Communications Coordinator and digital communications to build the membership and supporter base.

About You

We seek an individual with a passion for ecosystem restoration and the courage and grace to take forward a contentious matter as well as the optimism that we can address the Climate and Biodiversity Emergencies. You will:

  • Be passionate about ecological restoration and the restoration of Lake Pedder
  • Have a proven track record delivering campaigns
  • Be experienced in fundraising, event planning and delivery
  • Be experienced in recruiting and managing volunteers from varying backgrounds
  • Have highly developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to translate scientific information simply
  • Have well honed organisational skills with confidence to delegate tasks and manage teams
  • Possess the ability to manage and prioritise a range of tasks, plan and work to deadlines
  • Work proactively and independently with limited supervision, but also be a team player
  • Have the ability to think out-of-the-box and to adapt plans to changing circumstances and restrictions placed on events
  • Perform administrative and process-based tasks with a high degree of accuracy
  • Be social media savvy in a professional environment, with the ability to engage with variety of audiences
  • Be willing to represent Lake Pedder Restoration Inc at events and in the media.
