The Campaigns Officer will work closely with the NUS National Welfare Officer to coordinate the Change the Age campaign for the next 12 months, with a focus on growing student support and showing politicians in Canberra that ending student poverty is a priority for students across the country.
This role will include the development and execution of a 2023-24 campaign plan with the National Welfare Officer and National President. They will have a range of activities and duties throughout the year these will include: the organisation of activism, email campaigns, phonebanks, lobbying, direct action, publicity stunts, media releases, student engagement and support with events and activities in Melbourne and Nationwide.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to NUS by strategising and developing campaigns to support NUS's Welfare goals
- Develop, implement and evaluate campaign and engagement strategies as directed by the National Welfare Officer and National President
- Implement campaign plans that play to the NUS’ strengths in youth self-determination by mobilising student union members across different campuses and resourcing them to take action to support the campaign (e.g. developing streams for volunteers to take action through in-person events, digital actions, or media storytelling)
- Lead on national in-person mobilisation actions and support member organisations with on campus activities such as training volunteers, organising events and media stunts
- Develop and implement strategies for online engagement strategies such as digital actions, petitions, emails to MPs, social media, supporter growth and regular content creation
- Stay informed of political and policy opportunities that could be leveraged to progress the campaign
- Identify appropriate data and design effective calls to action to further campaign goals
- Identify and pursue fundraising opportunities in the campaign
- Understanding legal issues and risk assessment skills necessary for the job

The National Union of Students was founded in 1987 to represent post-school students in Australia. We are the peak representative and advocacy body for almost 1 Million students. The NUS was established on the principles of student unionism. Our primary objectives include, amongst many others, working on students' interests in quality of education, academic freedom, access to education, social security, health and welfare.
