The job

The Youth AOD Convenor at Ngwala Willumbong Aboriginal Corporation plays a crucial role in facilitating group sessions aimed at providing AOD education, cultural engagement, and cultural support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth in the Eastern Region.
Your primary responsibilities will involve planning and facilitating group activities, supporting group interactions, managing group dynamics, and ensuring a safe and respectful environment. The Youth AOD Convenor will also provide feedback on group activities and progress to relevant stakeholders.

Tasks will include:

  • Plan, facilitate and evaluate group activities and discussions.
  • Encourage a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for group members.
  • Manage group dynamics to ensure productive and positive interactions.
  • Provide feedback on group progress to relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the community and other stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates to Program Manager

Your Skills & Experience

  • Minimum requirement Certificate IV in Youth Services or Community Services
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal history and/or culture and commitment to the Aboriginal community.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Youth
  • Experience in group facilitation.
  • Keep understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
