Original Power

ORIGINAL POWER

Original Power is a growing organisation working with First Nations communities on defense of country, climate change campaigning, and renewable demonstration projects. We are also incubating and supporting the new First Nations Clean Energy Network.

We are in the process of building our central operations team to support our project activity as we grow and are looking to recruit a Chief Operations Officer to lead and take up that function.

We have a central office based in Melbourne and staff working on site and at home in the Northern Territory and other locations across Australia.

THE POSITION

  • Full Time or Part Time (FTE 0.8)
  • $125K - $145K base salary pro-rata PT / FTE with salary packaging available

Are you an experienced operations manager with a strategic bent, hands on attitude, and an interest in working with an agile and entrepreneurial organisation focussed on achieving positive change, to help make their back office systems hum?

Are you passionate about climate justice and community?

Do you want to be part of an organisation that is responding to the challenge of climate change in a way that draws and builds on the knowledge and experience of First Nations Peoples and supports self-determination and economic empowerment?

Our new Chief Operating Officer or COO will be responsible for overseeing Original Power’s day to day operations and procedures and ensuring timely delivery of organisational projects and priorities. They will act as a deputy to the Executive Director and be a key member of the Senior Management Team.

The COO will be responsible for managing diverse business operations including strategic and operational planning processes, internal cross-program coordination and reporting, budgeting and financial management.

The role will report to and partner with the Executive Director. While the Executive Director will focus on what is happening on a strategic “head up” basis, with an eye on the strategic positioning, priorities and future of the organisation, the COO will have a “head down,” focus, paying attention to what is needed from an operational perspective for the organisation to be successful today.

The role will largely work from home, or the office if Melbourne-based.

Although not an identified role, First Nations candidates are encouraged to apply.
