Who we are

The Shopfront is an outreach agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth. The role and function of The Shopfront is to relieve poverty and suffering in an environment that offers practical assistance, fellowship and hospitality.

Shopfront is serviced predominantly by volunteers; a place of hospitality which offers friendship and practical assistance to people in need including the homeless, people with mental illness, and those experiencing loneliness or hunger.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this hands-on role, the Support Officer, Shopfront works face to face with visitors to provide warm, caring fellowship, and to assist them in accessing further support and care from relevant community and government organisations. As part of their daily operations, The Shopfront offers a daily lunch service for those in need in the community, and the Support Officer is responsible for the preparation and smooth functioning of this service.

The Support Officer is also responsible for coordination of volunteer support and to provide effective administration skills to ensure The Shopfront continues to be able to provide this essential community service.

ABOUT YOU

The Support Officer, Shopfront has a passion for helping the homeless, and recognises the equal dignity in all persons. The ideal candidate is empowered to use their gifts, talents and compassion to support those experiencing poverty and homelessness with caring warmth and hospitality.

Ideally, you will have a background in social welfare, and experience in food preparation and service is highly desirable. You will have a willingness to support the catholic ethos and the ability to handle challenging situations in an appropriate manner and according to organisational guidelines.

A valid National Police Clearance, Working with Children Card, Western Australian Driver’s Licence, and proof of Right to Work in Australia required.
