Overview

Prosper Australia is seeking a dedicated and experienced General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of our small not-for-profit association. In this key leadership position, the General Manager will play a vital role in taking our think-tank to the next level.

Working in a small dynamic team, the General Manager will play a key role in advancing our mission, fostering community engagement, and ensuring the efficient management of resources, including developing new sources of revenue.

Prosper Australia is an independent, research, policy and advocacy organisation that advocates for a fundamental tax shift. Our work builds on the economic and social theories developed by American economist, Henry George.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the organisation's mission, vision, and goals.
  • Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and grant management to ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
  • Operations Management: Manage daily operations, including program implementation, office administration, and facility management.
  • Resource Development: Identify and pursue funding opportunities, cultivate relationships with donors, and oversee fundraising activities.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with members, volunteers, partners, and stakeholders to enhance community engagement and support.
  • Board Relations: Provide support to the Board of Directors, attend board meetings, and facilitate communication between board members and staff.
  • Staff Leadership: Lead and motivate a small team of staff and volunteers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as adherence to organisational policies and procedures.
  • Evaluation and Reporting: Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, prepare reports for stakeholders, and communicate impact and achievements effectively.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or above, in a relevant field, or significant experience in senior management roles.
  • Proven experience in nonprofit management, including financial management, strategic planning, and program development.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, problem-solve, and make sound decisions.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance, compliance, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Google suite and experience with CRM software (Keela).
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organisation.
