Background

Psychology for a Safe Climate has been working for over 10 years to support people emotionally in facing the reality of the climate crisis.

We are a group of active and committed volunteer psychologists, psychotherapists and psychiatrists, with a small team of paid part time professional staff. Having established a Climate Aware Practitioner Network (CAP), we are building our supportive services and our fundraising capacity. We are a health promotion charity with DGR status. Role Overview

We are looking for an Office and Administration Manager to support the Program Development Coordinator and Executive Director. They will play a crucial role in the smooth day to day operation of the organisation. Key responsibilities include event management for workshops and professional development, first point of contact for enquiries, and CAP administration.

The role includes management of the PSC website. The role will include some responsibility for social media, alongside a committed volunteer. We are currently finalising arrangements to introduce a Customer Relationship Management package to integrate all communications, newsletters, events and fundraising.

PSC does not have a physical office, but operates as a dispersed team. The majority of the team is based in Melbourne, and a Melbourne-based applicant is preferred.

The initial contract is part time (3 days equivalent) for six months, with a view to ongoing employment. Ideally, this part-time role would be worked over 3-5 days.

Starting salary as per Clerks—Private Sector Award 2020 plus access to salary packaging options. Awards classification will depend on experience and qualifications. See more here.

Key Responsibilities

Event Management: Coordinating one-off events; listing on online event platforms as applicable, first point of contact for participants, correspondence, reminders and follow up, logistics management.

  • Workshops and Professional Development Training
  • Seminars

Project Assistance: Assisting the coordination, correspondence, progress monitoring and reporting for ongoing projects in the organisation.

  • Increasing social media engagement
  • Fundraising support
  • Implementing CRM

Daily Office Management: First point of contact for general enquiries and clerical assistance for management.

  • Email correspondence
  • Distributing communications such as the Newsletter
  • Planning and coordination of meetings

Administration: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

  • PSC Programs (professional network, workshops)
  • Updating the Wordpress website
  • Board assistance as required

Selection Criteria

We are looking for someone who is supportive of PSC’s mission and, ideally, has:

  • Event management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in administration
  • Finds satisfaction in setting up new administrative systems
  • Ease and enjoyment working with social media
  • Advanced competence with IT applications, such as Microsoft suite, Google Drive, Wordpress, Mailchimp, Slack, Stripe, and implementing a CRM
  • Basic graphic design skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Capacity to work independently, as well as cooperatively as part of a team
  • Experience in the non-profit sector and working with volunteers would be highly regarded
