What is The MaraWay?

It’s a social enterprise that’s tackling the tough social challenges in our community with a bold new approach. Our purpose is to change lives and strengthen community by empowering people to help themselves. We help anyone, with any kind of need. The only eligibility criteria for our services is to be human.

We operate without government funding. Instead, we’ve created a sustainable self-funding model using profits from our business activities to fund our community services. This is a rare management role in the community services sector that doesn't require time sweating over funding applications and acquittals to keep operating. Our self-funding model allows us to design and tailor our services to identified needs, not funding guidelines.

About the role

The Community Services Manager is a member of our leadership team and is responsible for the development and operations of our community services. This is an exciting, challenging and diverse role that provides broad scope for creativity, innovation and collaboration across our organisation and a broad range of stakeholders.

The key responsibilities of the position include:

• Lead and manage all aspects of our community services arm to achieve strategic and operational objectives for The MaraWay’s community initiatives, including The MaraWay Community Hub.
• Facilitate and coordinate stakeholder engagement to develop and trial innovative ways to tackle tough social challenges in line with The MaraWay’s purpose, values and strategic plan.
• Support and advise the CEO in the strategic development and evaluation of the performance of our community initiatives.

The ideal candidate has:

• Leadership skills that empower others, promotes collaboration, teamwork and the ability to utilise strengths within teams made up of internal and external stakeholders.
• Extensive experience in leadership positions managing diverse teams and collaborative relationships with stakeholders across a wide range of sectors.
• The ability to think and plan strategically.
• Experience with the design, development and growth of collaborative initiatives.
• Experience with creating and maintaining physically, psychologically and emotionally safe environments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of management – including managing people, budgets, operational processes, risk management, compliance, research and evaluation.
• Resourcefulness – the ability to leverage internal and external resources, including creating collaborative partnerships, to achieve objectives.
• Effective group facilitation skills.
• Experience in designing and implementing impact measurement methodologies (desired).
• Experience using customer centric design processes for services (desired).

Qualifications in leadership, management, the community services sector and experience with design thinking are desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate must be able to get a Working with Children Blue Card.
